Home in the Shifting Sands
As a Tuareg trader, you place great honor in living and traveling across the shifting sands. Yet life in the desert calls for courage and bravery. The vast, arid expanses of Northern Africa are as treacherous as they are mysterious, incapable of supporting life for an extended period of time. In Through the Desert, you direct your nomadic tribes over the sunbaked sands, racing to gain the most important treasure the desert offers: water. But the desert affords you no mercy. Other tribes are vying for control of the limited water holes and oases. You will do what you must to gain control. Establish your caravans claim oases, and gain the points necessary to secure victory!
Lead Your Caravan
To become the most successful lord of the desert, you must end the game with the most points. Carefully place your caravan leaders while adding new camels to constantly develop your caravan each round. Sheiks gain points through claiming water hole markers, linking caravans to oases, enclosing areas of the desert, and having the largest caravan of a particular color. While oases can be scored upon by all players, you must race across the desert to claim water hole markers, which only benefit the first player that reaches them. With several ways to earn points, you’re free to choose your approach. You could build the longest caravan or attempt to dominate the desert’s oases. Whatever you choose, keep a close eye on your opponents’ caravans or you could find your tribe cut off from valuable resources. Ascend your camel and make the desert your home!
